Our Core Values
At AREC, we see ethics review as an interactive process between the committee and applicants. We are committed to working with and for researchers in ways which model how we would like the researchers to treat their participants. We provide guidance and support to researchers to further ethical research practice in Aotearoa. Throughout, we are guided by our core values:
Tika
What is the right thing to do?
Kaitiaki
The concept of protecting; providing guardianship to all involved in research and to the ethics of research.
Manaaki
To cherish, conserve, and sustain. This underpins a reciprocal concept of care and respect, including our aim to be mana enhancing in our interactions.
Whakarongo / vei rogorogoci
The act of respectful listening, and incorporating and engaging with diverse voices.
